As a community arts project with participation at its core Voices from Shandon was centred around an extensive community outreach programme which engaged community and voluntary sectors.
This programme, based on textile art work, invited participants to create their own visual voice through a creative exploration of flag making, symbolism and community. This process engaged schools, community groups, and voluntary organisations across the city, bringing together a cross section of individuals who make up our community. The Voices from Shandon outreach program also engaged with a network of local schools to create an original choral composition and performance of 100 children from 4 local schools.
These children worked with a team comprising of a writer, composer and youth music facilitator creating an original composition and performance which took place in tandem with the raising of the flags on Shandon Tower on June 15th 2013. |
